About the Lungfish Challenge

lung4

The Lungfish Challenge is a fun activity for Year 7 and 8 students. The challenge is to create a rap, song, magazine advertisement or video on the theme Being Smokefree, Being Auahi Kore. It’s something you can work on at school (ask your teacher how), and then send to Lungfish to win prizes!

It needs to:

  • Appeal to young people up to 15 years of age.
  • Contain a smokefree fact or slogan from the Being Smokefree, Being Auahi Koreschool programme you have worked with at school.
  • Have a positive message about being Auahi Kore or Smokefree.

The message you choose could be about:

  • Young people choosing not to smoke.
  • Young people encouraging their friends to be smokefree.
  • Informing young people about what is in cigarettes and cigarette smoke.
  • Telling young people why the tobacco industry needs people to smoke.
  • Showing how few people actually smoke, compared to how smoking is portrayed in some media.
  • Families choosing to have smokefree homes or smokefree areas in their homes.
  • Young sports people choosing not to smoke or choosing to quit smoking to improve their fitness.

If you choose to make a video, rap or song, it should be no more than 30 seconds long so it can be played on the website. If you choose a magazine advertisement, it can be scanned and emailed to Lungfish as a Word document or a PDF.

Get creative and have some fun!
